Why would someone say that they are not friends on Facebook but in that person’s friend list?

Social Media is a strange beast. We often allow friend requests from people we have never met and have no intention of meeting. There are a million reasons that people friend others in order to see their content. There is no set reason that a person would be on a friend list.

I think that the more interesting question is why you are going through someone else's friend list and then worrying about what is on the list. But then once asked the question of knowledge of the person the answer still isn't enough. And has bothered you to the point of going to a forum to ask strangers about the motivations of someone we don't know.

My spider senses tell me you won't be happy until you are validated that something suspicious is occuring. Which is more about you then the account holder.

My suggestion is to drop the whole train of thought. If you are suspicious of someone there are better ways to go about working on that issue.
